Tax evasion - Passenger is detained after arriving at the airport
A flight from Alicante to Hamburg brought a 63-year-old man directly to prison. The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office had been looking for him since March for tax evasion, as the Federal Police in Hamburg discovered upon his arrival. According to the arrest warrant, he was supposed to pay 110 fines of 100 Euros each. Since he couldn't pay the required 11,000 Euros, the man was taken to the Hamburg Investigative Detention Facility.
The man's scheduled flight was from Alicante, Spain, to Hamburg, Germany. Upon his arrival at Hamburg Airport, German authorities discovered evidence of tax evasion. The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office had been actively seeking him since March for this crime. The man was unable to pay the 110 fines of 100 Euros each, totaling 11,000 Euros, which prompted his immediate incarceration at the Hamburg Airport's Investigative Detention Facility. The man's tax evasion case is now under the jurisdiction of the German public prosecutor's office.
