On the A61, just before the Laudert interchange (Rhein-Hunsrück district), a person was fatally injured in a rear-end collision. According to police reports, the 49-year-old woman was a passenger in a car that, on Wednesday morning, was traveling south on the right lane and collided into a tractor-trailer without braking. She succumbed to her severe injuries at the scene.
The driver and three other occupants were only lightly injured, the police added. The truck driver was unharmed. The cause of the accident was initially unknown.
