Wage dispute - Passenger association: warning strike is provocation for travelers
The passenger association Pro Bahn in Lower Saxony and Bremen has criticized the warning strike announced by the German Train Drivers' Union (GDL) as a "provocation for passengers". Claus Weselsky, chairman of the GDL, "obviously does not want to come to an agreement, but is instead planning a strike", said the chairman of the Pro Bahn regional association Malte Diehl in a statement on Wednesday. After all, Deutsche Bahn had submitted an offer, but the GDL had declared the talks to have failed.
"This is unacceptable, especially as public passenger transport is part of public services and therefore special care should be expected in collective bargaining," Diehl continued. In the statement, the state association of Pro Bahn once again called for a guaranteed timetable that would be adhered to even during warning strikes - for "a minimum of mobility".
The GDL has called on its members to go on another warning strike at Deutsche Bahn. From Thursday evening, 10 p.m., until Friday evening, 10 p.m., passengers will once again have to prepare for thousands of train cancellations on rail services throughout Germany. The GDL announced on Wednesday evening that all employees in the long-distance and regional transport sectors, among others, have been called to strike. Among other things, the union wants to emphasize its demand for a reduction in working hours for shift workers.
