Draft - Party conferences decide on black-red coalition agreement

The CDU and SPD in Hesse want to decide on the draft of their coalition agreement this Saturday. A good two months after the state elections, both parties have agreed on the 184-page government program for the years 2024 to 2029.

The CDU will meet in Frankfurt (11.00 a.m.) for a state committee, i.e. a small party conference with around 100 invited delegates. The SPD is expecting around 350 delegates at its special party conference in Groß-Umstadt in southern Hesse (10.00 a.m.). The first item on the agenda at both locations will be debates on the coalition agreement.

Following the expected majority approval of the two party conferences, the CDU state leader and Minister President Boris Rhein and the SPD state leader and Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser are scheduled to sign the black-red "Hesse Agreement" next Monday. The future ministers will not be announced until the beginning of 2024. The 21st Hessian state parliament will be constituted on January 18. The new state government can then take office.
