Parliamentary elections in Serbia have begun
In addition to the parliamentary elections, local elections are also being held in several Serbian cities - including the capital Belgrade.
Vucic has used his ten years in power to consolidate his control over Serbia. He discredits critics and protests against him as a foreign conspiracy. The biggest competition for Vucic's party in the election is the loose opposition alliance Serbia Against Violence. The movement emerged from the mass protests following two gun attacks in the spring that left a total of 18 people dead. A high level of support for it could be interpreted as mistrust of Vucic.

The parliamentary election in Serbia started on Sunday, making it easy for citizens to cast their votes at various polling stations across the country, particularly in Belgrade. Despite his tenure of over a decade, Aleksandar Vucic, the Serbian president, continues to face competition from movements like Serbia Against Violence, which gained traction following the deadly gun attacks earlier this year. Although Vucic has tried to discredit critics and protests as foreign conspiracies, inflation remains a pressing concern for many Serbian citizens as they head to the polls.
