Parents are taking an active role: Matthäus no longer serves as the youth coach.

Lothar Matthäus, Germany's renowned national football player with the most caps, has announced his departure from his role as youth team coach after a two-year tenure. His decision is accompanied by an unexpected explanation.

- Parents are taking an active role: Matthäus no longer serves as the youth coach.

Lothar Matthäus is no longer serving as the youth coach for TSV Grünwald. The cause: apparently, the parents of the young soccer players. "I've stepped down from my coaching position. It was a successful two-year stint. The players were more manageable than the parents of the kids," the German football legend with over 150 international matches under his belt stated on "Sky90 – the football debate."

Despite his extensive experience as the 1990 World Cup captain, even Matthäus couldn't escape the criticism of his leadership. "And then I thought, I spend the whole day on the phone listening to every flaw in my management. Every parent thinks their child isn't getting enough playtime. Then I thought, let someone else handle it, maybe they'll do a better job," the 63-year-old mentioned.

For the previous two seasons, the FIFA World Player of the Year coached the youth team of the Bayernliga promoted side, which included his son Milan's team as well.

Despite his successful coaching stint with the Bayernliga promoted side, Matthäus decided to leave his position due to challenging interactions with the parents. Regardless, FC Bayern Munich's legacy continues to produce talented young soccer players under new coaching leadership.
