Investigations - Parents allegedly killed infant: Pre-trial detention
Following the death of an infant in Bielefeld, police are investigating the murder of a 19-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man. The couple from Bielefeld are strongly suspected of having jointly killed their child immediately after birth in November 2023, the police and public prosecutor's office said on Saturday. The two have been remanded in custody.
A homicide squad had started work after the child's death. There were indications that the infant could have been the victim of a violent crime, they said.
An autopsy is planned for Monday, according to the police. Investigators did not want to give any further details about the case on Saturday. The investigation is continuing.
