- Parent in Child Care Controversy Suffers Assault by Gang at Trial
Allegedly, this vicious youth gang reportedly left a middle-aged man in a vulnerable state: A group of eight individuals, suspected of belonging to a brutal gang of youngsters, have been on trial since Thursday at the District Court in Düsseldorf. The accused, ranging in age from 16 to 20, are being charged with committing seven brutal armed robberies within an eight-day span, at times with various members involved. The indictment claims they assaulted their victims with a machete and a gas pistol in certain instances, while other times threatening to open fire.
The gang's method of operation: These young men allegedly advertised high-priced mobile phones on an internet auction site, enticing potential buyers to meet them at a designated location with ample cash. Even mobile phone vendors in upscale neighborhoods within the state capital were reportedly targeted by these teenage robbers.
A 28-year-old family man was viciously attacked, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent reliance on care. It remains uncertain if he will ever regain the ability to move his arm. Law enforcement confiscated two fake firearms, two machetes, an axe, a switchblade, and several mobile phones when they apprehended the group. Four of the eight accused are currently in custody.
The trial is scheduled to resume next week - additional testimonies are also planned.
The indictment against the accused youths includes charges of perpetrating youth crime, specifically seven armed robberies within a week. Due to these incidents, the city has seen a rise in fear among its residents, particularly in upscale neighborhoods.
