Court of law - Parcel deliverer sentenced to pay damages for theft
A package delivery worker was sentenced by the Amtsgericht in Adelsheim (Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis) to 60 hours of community service and over 11,000 Euro in damages by the court. The court considered it proven that the 20-year-old had stolen numerous packages, most of which contained smartphones, according to a police spokesperson.
The damage amounted to 20,000 Euro. In the period from July 2022 to February 2023, a total of 30 shipments disappeared. The 20-year-old made a confession after a search in July 2023, during which evidence was secured. He had sold the stolen goods on various platforms to finance his drug addiction.
The companies that had sent the devices and Deutsche Post, which had to pay compensation for the lost devices, were among the affected parties. The end customers always received a new device. Affected were shipments to the towns of Osterburken, Adelsheim, Rosenberg, Ravenstein (Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis), and Krautheim (Hohenlohekreis).
