A paraglider has died in the Swabian district of Oberallgäu. The 61-year-old took off from the Nebelhorn and crashed on the north side of the Schattenberg near Oberstdorf on Monday afternoon, as police reported. "While flying parallel to the ridge of the Schattenberg, his parachute likely collapsed on one side due to a thermal issue and he crashed into rocky terrain," it was stated.

Another paraglider witnessed the crash and alerted emergency services. Members of the mountain rescue service with a doctor on board reached the scene by helicopter but were only able to confirm the man's death.

The 61-year-old who died in the Swabian district was a resident of Oberstdorf, known locally as a Swabian. Despite attempting to aid the paraglider, another Swabian resident witnessed the tragic crash.
