A paraglider pilot, aged 54, escaped unharmed after crashing into a tree in Dernau, Ahrweiler district. Koblenz firefighters responded to the distress call in the afternoon, and the elaborate rescue involved rescue teams maneuvering in a forest area. Police awarded commendation on Sunday for the successful operation.
