Paderborn's coach publicly bids farewell to Max Kruse
Paderborn coach Lukas Kwasniok has publicly bid farewell to his player Max Kruse. "All the best," said Kwasniok on Thursday, adding: "A perfect person, unfortunately it didn't quite work out as we had imagined for both sides."
Kwasniok was full of praise for the former national team player, whose contract was about to be terminated. "Personally, I would like to emphasize and evaluate the sporting and personal relationship and constellation with Max here - and on a human level it was 1A with stars," said Kwasniok about the 35-year-old. "He could have let the big star hang out here - even in everyday life. He didn't do that once."
Regarding Kruse's contract situation, who is currently not with the Paderborn team, Kwasniok said: "The current situation is that Max and the club are well on the way to finding a good solution."
Kruse moved to Paderborn in the 2nd Bundesliga last summer after being released by VfL Wolfsburg a year ago. The 14-time German international had recurring injury problems with the East Westphalians and only played five games for the SCP.
Kruse's tenure with SC Paderborn in Bundesliga 2 was marked by injury issues, as he could only manage to play five games for the team. Despite this, his relationship with the coach Lukas Kwasniok was highly praiseworthy, with Kwasniok acknowledging that Kruse could have had a stellar career in Paderborn but chose to put the team first.
