Ozeaneum welcomes many guests thanks to rainy summer

When the rain prevents them from going to the beach, many vacationers go to the Ozeaneum in Stralsund. That was also the case this year, bringing many visitors to the marine exhibition. Next year, an important exhibition will return to Stralsund.

Marine exhibition - Ozeaneum welcomes many guests thanks to rainy summer

The Ozeaneum in Stralsund has particularly benefited from the rainy summer months this year. "Never before have we had several very busy days so close together at the end of July and beginning of August," explained Director Andreas Tanschus on Thursday. "With 8559 guests, August 7 was even the second-busiest day since the opening in 2008."

By the end of November 2023, the Ozeaneum had counted more than 565,000 guests, according to its own figures. In 2022, it had also followed on from the pre-corona year of 2019 with more than half a million guests.

The Oceanographic Museum in Stralsund's old town is set to reopen next summer after extensive modernization and renovation work. In the first half of the year, for example, the display cases will be filled, aquariums will be test-filled and animals will be moved in.

The operators also announced that prices would be increased at the start of 2024, with reference to the wider range of attractions. Admission to the Oceanographic Museum and the Ozeaneum will then cost 18 instead of 17 euros for adults. For children between the ages of 4 and 16, the price will remain at eight euros. Children under the age of four will continue to receive free admission. The reduced price of 14 instead of 12 euros will benefit all people aged 17 to 24 and 66 and over.
