Gaining Female Attention - Ozdemir and Anne Will attend charity event in Berlin
Well, famous people slapped on soccer jerseys for a charitable soccer game on Sunday. Cem Özdemir, Federal Minister of Agriculture (Greens), and actress and choreographer Nikeata Thompson participated in "Scoring Girls*" 2024's charity match at the Poststadion. Actor Fahri Yardim also attended, but hurt himself while warming up and didn't play. But, don't worry, he was soon smiling for the camera. Bundespräsident Bärbel Bas (SPD), journalist Anne Will, and 102-year-old Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer were also present at the event.
The initiative was started by former pro footballer Tuğba Tekkal, who also organized the match. Girls from Palestine, Jews, Arabs, Afghanistan, and Germany play together in this project. The goal is to provide girls and women with the opportunity to discover their talents and boost their self-confidence, regardless of their nationality, socio-economic level, or religious beliefs. "It's not just about a charity match," Düzen Tekkal, Tuğba's sister, explained to dpa. "It's about social harmony and diversity, about 'conquering the forces of division, especially in times like these,'" said the author and journalist.
