Traffic - Overtaking on hard shoulder: four injured in car accident
Four people have been lightly injured in a car accident on the A6 in St. Ingbert (Saarpfalz-District). A 18-year-old man overtook several other cars at the weekend evening with his car and drove even partly on the right lane and the shoulder, as the police reported. Moreover, he was reportedly driving at excessive speed.
Apparently, in the area of the Mitte district, the young man lost control over his vehicle, came off the road, hit the guardrail, and rolled over several times. All four occupants were taken to the hospital with light injuries.
A criminal proceedings have been initiated against the driver, among other things, due to endangerment of road traffic. The police are looking for witnesses.
The hard shoulder was unfortunately used as an additional lane by the driver, leading to the car accident. Due to the dangerous maneuvers, the A6 in St. Ingbert experienced temporary traffic disruptions. The car involved in the accident was severely damaged and had to be towed away. The police in Saarland are advising drivers to stick to speed limits and appropriate lane usage to avoid similar incidents.
