Tourism - Overnight record for May
The German domestic tourism is booming. Hotels and other accommodation businesses with at least ten beds registered more overnight stays in May than ever before in this month. A total of 48.9 million overnight stays represent an increase of 4.1 percent compared to the previous record-breaking May in the year 2023, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office based on preliminary data. The number from the pre-Corona year 2019 was even surpassed by nearly 10 percent. Only 15 percent of the overnight stays in May were booked by foreign guests.
