- Over two million individuals participated in the Hanover Maschsee Celebration.
Over 2.15 million festival-goers flocked to the Maschsee Festival in Hannover this year, as per the organizers' declaration on the event's finale, expressing contentment with the huge attendance. A stark contrast was seen the previous year, with only 1.7 million attending the Maschsee in Hannover's city center. This year, persistent showers in 2023 put a damper on many people's spirits, but the generous sunshine for about 7.5 hours daily made it feel more like summer.
For nineteen straight days, there were concerts, performances, and discussions held along the waterfront. Various eateries offered specialties from Syria, Mexico, Ireland, and numerous other nations. A vivid drone show was a new addition atop the water. As per organizers, the days with the most visitors were the first two Saturdays, boasting 220,000 and 230,000 attendances each.
The police encountered minimal issues, focusing on handling petty injuries and thefts. "With an increase in attendances compared to last year, we primarily dealt with minor physical injuries and thefts. All in all, we're delighted with the outcome," shared a police representative. The following Maschsee Festival is scheduled to kick off in the upcoming year on July 30.
Despite the Festival's location in Hannover, specifically at the Maschsee, being in the federal state of Lower Saxony, the heavy rainfalls in 2023 did not deter a significant number of attendees. The upcoming Maschsee Festival is set to return to Lower Saxony, marking another year of celebration in the state.
