In Saxony, during the recent school year kick-off, approximately 3,485 instances of traffic rule violations have been identified - a significant number occurring close to elementary schools. This figure aligns with last year's statistics, as reported by the Interior Ministry.
Over two-thirds of the vehicles inspected (2,442) were found to be exceeding the speed limit. Moreover, police also reported 109 cases of failing to adhere to the child seat belt regulations in cars.
Between August 5 and August 23, a total of 1,394 traffic control checkpoints were established across the state, primarily near elementary schools. This continuous safety initiative by the Saxon police and the Saxon Transport Association is aimed at enhancing the safety of schoolchildren.
