Over one billion euros for child and youth welfare in 2022
In Thuringia, expenditure on child and youth welfare rose above the one billion euro mark last year. Public budgets spent around 1.38 billion euros on this, as announced by the State Statistical Office on Wednesday. This corresponded to an increase of 7.7 percent compared to 2021. 989 million euros, around three quarters of the expenditure was spent on facilities such as kindergartens, child day care and youth work facilities, while the remaining expenditure was spent on educational support for children and young people. Around 391 million euros were spent on this.
The significant funding allocated to social affairs in Thuringia includes over a billion euros for child and youth welfare, as evident in 2022's expenditure. A substantial portion of this allocation, approximately 75%, is directed towards facilities like kindergartens, child care, and youth work centers.
