Melodic Tunes: A Collection of Songs to Enjoy - Over forty choirs perform in Thuringian palaces.
Hear the melodic tunes of roughly one thousand singers and choirs at various locations in Thuringia in the upcoming days! A total of 43 ensembles have confirmed their participation in the "Thuringian Choral Gems" concert series, reported the Friedenstein Foundation in Gotha. Over 30 hours of beautiful music awaits you, kicking off on Thursday night with a performance by Minister President Bodo Ramelow at the Erfurt Peterskirche.
The musical extravaganza will take place at 13 different venues, such as Altenburg, Arnstadt, Gotha, Schmalkalden, and Sondershausen. The extensive program boasts a variety of genres, ranging from traditional hymns to gospel and jazz, and even modern interpretations and own compositions. Ensembles from Thuringia, Saxony, Berlin, and Trier are all preparing to perform. Organizers aim to showcase a message of devotion and hospitable culture through the shared experience of music.
The concept of the choral experience was brought to life by the Residence Union "Thuringian Treasury" in collaboration with the Thuringian Choral Association in 2022. It showcases the rich and diverse choral landscape, covering a multitude of vocal talents, song selections, and enthusiasm.
Recognized by the Thuringian Choral Association, about 8,000 individuals are actively involved in 300 amateur ensembles. Across Germany, more than 750,000 choir members bring people from all walks of life together. With strong local affiliations, these choirs create a sense of community and harmony.
