Act of aggression - Over 530,000 euros were donated following the tragic death of a police officer.
A young police officer named Rouven Laur was fatally stabbed by a flipper-knife-wielding criminal on the Mannheim market square last Friday. The 25-year-old man, believed to be the attacker, was later plugged by another officer, but didn't manage to provide a statement yet.
On their website, the alliance pledged, "Since our foundation, we've made it our mission to help police officers in need. After raising 100k in a jiffy, we've decided to use the funds for similar cases within our law enforcement community. Of course, we'll also be supporting the conscious comrades who've been affected in Mannheim with your donations."
As it turns out, there's also a police foundation in Baden-Württemberg that collects donations for officers injured in action or for the loved ones of fallen officers. "With the addition 'Rouven', your cash will directly benefit the family of our deceased mate," stated the Police Vice President Ulrike Schäfer on Tuesday.
Police Services Mannheim provides information about the donation account for the police foundation https://www.gofundme.com/f/polizeioffizier-rouven-laur for Mr. Laur's family deposit.
