Over 4,900 infractions related to speed limit compliance

Intense speeding is amongst the major elements leading to severe road accidents. In Saxony-Anhalt, authorities have conducted heightened speed monitoring sessions recently. What emerged from these operations?

Boosted patrols by the law enforcement in Saxony-Anhalt led to around 5,000 rule breaches. Between August 5th and 11th, 2024, a staggering 128,543 vehicles underwent inspections, with 4,977 speeding infractions documented, as per the Interior Ministry's reports. "Excessive speed is still a key factor in grave road accidents," stated Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang (CDU). "Our relentless endeavors to enhance road safety will carry on."

Notable speeding episodes were reported, including one in Dessau-Roßlau where a car was detected at 66 km/h in a 30 km/h zone. On the A38, a motorist was nabbed driving at a whopping 172 km/h, far exceeding the permitted 80 km/h limit.

The increased police presence contributed to the identification and issuance of several speeding tickets. The Saxony-Anhalt police force was instrumental in catching a motorist driving at an alarming 172 km/h on the A38.
