- Over 25,000 search warrants issued in the Southwestern region.
As of July 1st, the Criminal Investigation Authority (EKA) of Baden-Württemberg announced that there were 25,388 arrest orders issued in their database. This figure is almost twice as high as the number from 2021 (13,542). However, a representative of the EKA pointed out that examining such individual instances only provides limited insight.
They explained to the German Press Agency in Stuttgart that arrest orders are executed routinely, and the offender's record is subsequently removed. Simultaneously, new arrest orders are issued, and individuals are added to the wanted list.
In 2,897 of the current situations, the objective was to apprehend suspects. Conversely, the objective was to enforce sentences in 22,491 instances.
It's essential to recognize that these arrest orders usually appear in the database when the underlying crime is being managed within Baden-Württemberg. Therefore, these orders don't primarily pertain to residents or individuals present in the Southwest. Moreover, an individual may have multiple arrest orders against them.
The EKA representative further explained that the increase in arrest orders doesn't necessarily mean an increase in criminal activity within Baden-Württemberg, as the statistics only represent orders issued within their jurisdiction. More importantly, the total number of individuals with active arrest orders at any given time is much higher due to the repeated issuance and removal of orders.
