Over 1000 participants at pro-Palestine demonstration in Munich
According to police reports, a good 1000 people gathered in Munich on Friday evening for a pro-Palestinian rally. The demonstration began in snow flurries with around 500 people at Odeonsplatz, according to a police spokesperson. It later continued towards Mariahilfplatz with twice as many participants. Among other things, the demonstrators called for a ceasefire in the Middle East conflict.
The rally under the name "Stop the War - Freedom for Palestine" was organized by the Munich branch of the "Palestine Speaks" movement. In the invitation, the organizers emphasized, among other things, that they would not accept any racist or anti-Semitic slogans or signs.
The demonstrations led to several conflicts between protesters and law enforcement, as some individuals disregarded the organizer's policy against racist and anti-Semitic slogans. Despite the conflicts, the protesters remained determined in their call for a ceasefire in the Middle East conflict.
