Outdoor stage performances in MV proved popular among attendees.

In their final performance of the year, productions gracing expansive outdoor stages in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern continue to enchant spectators. Delighted by the favorable reception, organizers express satisfaction.

Schwerin (dpa-lmv) - On the last day of August, three major outdoor theaters in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern wrap up their season shows: The Störtebeker Festival in Ralswiek on Rügen, the Vineta Festival in Zinnowitz on Usedom, and the Pirate Open Air in Grevesmühlen.

"We had a fantastic run and are really content," says Anna-Theresa Hick, the head of the Störtebeker Festival. She's thrilled that the play "Hamburg 1401" was well-received by the crowd.

Ralswiek - 67 Performances

In total, there were 67 shows, attracting up to 8800 audience members per night, with fireworks, birds of prey, horses, and cannon blasts. However, it was an emotional season with two on-stage mishaps, Hick mentions.

Zinnowitz - Vineta Festival

The Vineta Festival in Zinnowitz debuted on June 28, 2024, and its final performance of 29 will happen this Saturday, retelling the tale of the submerged city of Vineta. This year, the concluding chapter of the trilogy, titled "The Grandeur of the Depths," was shared.

Weather Impact

The Vineta Festival season went well, comparable to the past two years. Despite some weather-related attendance drops, there were no cancellations, says Anna Engel, the managing director of the Vorpommern State Theater. Considering the circumstances, she's delighted with the statistics. Of course, an increase is always appreciated. "Every year, we ponder what can be improved to draw in more viewers, but overall, we are quite content both inside and outside," Engel says.

Grevesmühlen - Pirate Open Air

Peter Venzmer, the artistic director of the Pirate Open Air in Grevesmühlen, also looks back on the season fondly. The production "With Fire, Sword, and Crucifix" has been showcased 62 times since June 21, drawing up to 3400 audience members per night. "We had a satisfactory 2024 season, which ensures the theater's continuity in a challenging era," says Venzmer. "Our appreciation goes to all who stand by the theater."

Remaining Tickets

None of the three organizers provide exact attendance figures. There are still some tickets left for the final performances in both Ralswiek and Zinnowitz, as well as in Grevesmühlen.

Waren and Wolgast - Wrapped Up

The final performance of "Betrayed and Sold" from the Müritz Saga in Waren happened last week. "We are content. Many visitors discovered our production and want to return," said artistic director Nils Düwell.

The Wolgast Harbor Festival also finished on August 24. The production "The Mussel by the Wolgast Lake" was performed 27 times from June 22 to August 24, surpassing expectations with nearly 9000 spectators, says director Anna Engel.

September Performances Continue

However, the outdoor season isn't completely over yet: Two smaller stages still have performances. The Vorpommern State Theater will stage "The Vikings - The Pearl of Byzantium" in the Barth Theater Garden until September 7. The finals of "The Great Seer - Competition for Peeneland" will premiere on the Anklam Theater Hof on September 6, with seven performances from September 6 to 14, Engel says.

Afterwards, 2025 plans are already underway at all locations. She's already excited about the new season, when the piece "Pirates of the Coast" will narrate the origin of the Klaus Störtebeker legend, asserts Störtebeker Festival director Hick.

After a successful run, Anna-Theresa Hick takes some free time to reflect on the Störtebeker Festival, expressing satisfaction with the crowd's reception of "Hamburg 1401".

Anna Engel, the managing director of the Vorpommern State Theater, uses her free time to appreciate the Vineta Festival's comparison to past years, despite some weather-related challenges.
