- Out of court settlement in the Streifender case?

The case of handball player Manuel Zehnder (24) could be settled out of court. As a spokesperson for the Regional Labour Court of Nuremberg explained, the chamber in the oral hearing discussed the facts and legal aspects with both parties. The opposing parties are now to try to reach an out-of-court settlement. The announcement date is set for next Tuesday (10:00 AM).

The Swiss national player Zehnder was loaned from HC Erlangen to ThSV Eisenach last season and became the top scorer there. Despite having a contract until the summer of 2026 in Erlangen, he terminated it shortly after the end of the season with the Bavarian club.

Zehnder did not make progress with an urgent procedure regarding the termination at the end of June, with the Labour Court Nuremberg dismissing the application.

Trend: Lawsuit likely to be dismissed

According to the spokesperson, the chamber currently tends to assume that the plaintiff's termination did dissolve the employment relationship, but that there was no basis for an interim order in the urgent procedure. Based on the current assessment of the court, there is a tendency to dismiss the lawsuit. However, this remains reserved for the final deliberation of the chamber, the spokesperson emphasized.

Zehnder was present at the hearing in Nuremberg. The first matchday of the upcoming Bundesliga season is already scheduled for early September.

The handball league where Zehnder previously played for HC Erlangen is the Bundesliga. Despite Zehnder's top scorer performance in ThSV Eisenach, the ongoing legal dispute between him and HC Erlangen could potentially affect his future in the handball league.
