Brightly Hued - Otto Waalkes' Ottifanten make their way around Hamburg via a bus.

In Hamburg now, there's a new Ottifanten-Bus in town! On Thursday morning, this red double-decker bus with Ottifanten drawings came to life at Landungsbrucken. And who else but the famous comedian and artist of the Ottifanten himself showed up? Yes, the 75-year-old cut a red ribbon at the front entrance, and even briefly sat and was photographed while driving the tourist bus.

Prior to this exciting event, the bus had already set off on its first tour of the city with tourists. As a perk for the first guests, the ride was free, and they also received an Ottifanten plush keychain as a freebie on their trip around the city.

The bus is decorated with several Ottifanten characters - one sporting yellow raincoat, another with binoculars, and two others passionately kissing. The rear end of the bus might make anyone following the bus smile - it features a large image of an Ottifanten's backside.

Ottifanten are a famous trademark of the comedian, painter, singer, and actor, hailing from Emden. These peculiar beings first appeared on a record cover in 1973. Since then, Waalkes now resides in Hamburg.
