Comedian - Otto Waalkes on his 2023: Had another high point
Comedian Otto Waalkes (75) is grateful and happy as he looks back on the year that is coming to an end - especially about his first number one hit "Friesenjung". "When you've been in show business for so long and things like that happen, you're just happy to have a peak again," Waalkes told the German Press Agency.
He has no explanation as to why the reinterpretation of his song from the 90s has been so well received in recent months. "I don't even want to think about it. I just enjoy it as it is. Anything else would be too speculative."
Waalkes had given Dutchman Joost and Berlin rapper Ski Aggu permission to re-record a dance version of his song in the spring. Ski Aggu explains the success primarily through the popularity of the comedy legend.
"Everyone knows him and everyone likes him. He's just super funny and very likeable. And the song is also really catchy. I contributed the least to the song," the musician with the ski goggles explained to dpa.
