Osnabrück wants to widen the gap on Braunschweig
For VfL Osnabrück, the basement duel at Eintracht Braunschweig will be a journey into the unknown following the change of coach at the bottom of the table. "A new coach always makes things a bit more difficult. How do they play, in what basic formation," said Osnabrück coach Tobias Schweinsteiger ahead of the Lower Saxony clash on Saturday (13:00/Sky). Eintracht signed Daniel Scherning as their new coach on Tuesday, who was previously Schweinsteiger's predecessor at the Purple & White.
This makes the match even more explosive. "I know Daniel from the coaching course. I'm delighted that he has a job again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him, but only from Sunday," said Schweinsteiger.
But even without this special touch, there is a lot at stake. Osnabrück are currently 17th in the table, two points ahead of Eintracht, who are bottom of the table and have only collected five points so far. "We want to increase the gap between us and Braunschweig," said Schweinsteiger, outlining the objective for the landmark clash. However, he expects a difficult task. "We'll have to be prepared for Braunschweig to set the stadium alight at home and for them to play full-throttle soccer. We have to hold our own."
VfL Osnabrück aims to utilize their home advantage in Bundesliga 2 against Eintracht Braunschweig, as a win could widen their gap in the standings. Coach Tobias Schweinsteiger acknowledged the challenge ahead, acknowledging that Eintracht's new coach, Daniel Scherning, is familiar to him and that they should expect a fiery performance at home from the hosts, playing intense soccer.
