Group D - Oranje team wins test match against TSV Havelse 6:1

One day after the bitter 2:3 loss against Austria, the Dutch football national team won a test match against German Regionalligist TSV Havelse with a score of 6:1. In the game held behind closed doors for twice 35 minutes, Wout Weghorst (2), Micky van de Ven (2), Brian Brobbey, and Jeremie Frimpong scored for the team, with the regular starters not making an appearance.

The Netherlands had slipped to third place in Group D due to the loss against Austria. Back home, there was much criticism of the Orange Team. Coach Ronald Koeman, in particular, has been under heavy criticism due to the disappointing performances so far.

On Wednesday, Koeman refused to comment to the press. In the morning, Koeman expressed his own disappointment via social media. "We were below our level in every aspect," wrote the European Championship winner of 1988 about the game against Austria.

Quotes from Koeman:

The Dutch national soccer team, currently placed third in Group D, aimed to bounce back from their loss against Austria with a test match against German Regional League side TSV Havelse. In a game played behind closed doors for two 35-minute periods, Group D rivals Germany were the opponents. Despite the absence of regular starters, the Oranje team, led by coach Ronald Koeman under heavy criticism, managed an impressive 6-1 victory. Wout Weghorst scored twice, while Micky van de Ven, Brian Brobbey, and Jeremie Frimpong also found the back of the net against TSV Havelse.

The Dutch national team's underwhelming performances in their European qualifier campaign had attracted strong criticism from the public and media, primarily targeting coach Ronald Koeman. Koeman, the Europe '88 champion and former Barcelona manager, chose to address the matter by publicly acknowledging the team's poor performance in the game against Austria through his social media channels.

Following their victory against TSV Havelse, the Oranje team, now ready to take on Germany in Group D, will look to build on the positive momentum and silence their critics. Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman and the Netherlanders will focus on their upcoming challenges, aiming to secure their top spot in the group.
