Household - Opposition leader and head of government in search of compromise
CDU parliamentary group leader Mario Voigt and Thuringia's Minister President Bodo Ramelow are looking for a compromise for the 2024 state budget on Friday. As the opposition leader in the state parliament, Voigt had invited the head of government to the meeting (9.30 a.m.). He wants to explain to Ramelow the results of the CDU's examination of the government's proposals to improve the budget and where there is room for agreement.
The outcome of the meeting will determine whether there will be a compromise budget with a large number of corrections shortly before Christmas or whether the red-red-green coalition runs the risk of not getting the state budget through parliament. The red-red-green coalition lacks four votes in the state parliament to make its own decisions.
On Tuesday, the minority government made compromise proposals to the CDU, including the renunciation of a constitutional complaint against the reduction in land transfer tax it had pushed through. According to Voigt, his goal is to ensure that Thuringia does not end up without a budget in the 2024 election year.
