Operation on Lithuanian ferry: Suspicions not confirmed
The deployment of the Federal Police on the ferry "Victoria Seaways" on its journey to the port of Kiel did not confirm the suspicion of a possible dangerous situation or criminal offense. This was announced by the Federal Police on Friday. The operation was triggered on Tuesday by a tip-off from a passenger. Officers had transferred from the federal police ship "Neustadt" to the ferry coming from Klaipeda (Lithuania). As a precaution, additional officers were deployed in the port of Kiel. According to the Federal Police, they did not provide any details for tactical reasons.
The officers had encountered both the informant and the three people described by him on the ship. A check did not confirm the suspicions. The "Victoria Seaways" moored in the port of Kiel with a slight delay.
Despite the tip-off about potential emergencies on board, the shipping of "Victoria Seaways" did not lead to the confirmation of any dangerous situation or criminal activity. Subsequently, there were no significant changes in the shipping schedule due to these incidents.
