Tracks destroyed - Only replacement services between Marbach and Backnang

Due to numerous landslides, train traffic between Marbach (Ludwigsburg District) and Backnang (Rems-Murr-District) is still disrupted at least until mid-September. Passengers of the affected S4 line are still required to switch to replacement buses, according to the railway.

Mid-September, the result of a geologists and hydrologists' report is expected. The railway line was hit by numerous landslides during a heavy rainstorm at the end of June. The tracks were no longer passable.

Approximately ten kilometers of railway tracks were damaged at several locations to a significant extent. The area around Kirchberg an der Murr station is particularly affected. The affected section of the track is also known as the "little Murr railway".

Despite the disruptions, alternative transport options, such as replacement buses, have been implemented for passengers on the affected S4 line. The city of Backnang, located in the Rems-Murr-District, and Marbach, situated in the Ludwigsburg District, both in Baden-Württemberg, have been significantly impacted by the train traffic disruptions. After the heavy rainstorm in late June, the railroad between these two cities was severely affected by multiple landslides, leading to the damage of approximately ten kilometers of tracks at various locations, with the area around Kirchberg an der Murr station being particularly impacted.
