On a Sunday morning in Essen, a careful passerby saved a man from a blazing flat. The observer spotted smoke and carefully got inside this ground-floor apartment before the firefighters arrived. The first responders saw that the passerby had neatly removed the occupant from the apartment as they arrived. This quick action prevented the fire and smoke from spreading to the rest of the multi-family house's stairs. The residents of the other apartments could remain in their homes. The individual from the burning apartment got treated for smoke inhalation at the hospital. The source of the fire was initially a mystery.
