Nature and Surroundings Rewording: Natural World and Surrounding Areas - One World State Network calls for the passage of MV's climate protection legislation.
The One World Network in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has urged the state government to release a draft for their promised state climate protection law as soon as possible, first announced in 2023. Spokesperson Nathalie Nad-Abonji called out the delay, saying, "We've been waiting a year later."
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is one of the few states without its own climate law, and Nad-Abonji emphasized that delaying action is unacceptable. She also argued for transparency, emphasizing the need to inform citizens about the threat and challenges of the climate crisis and how Mecklenburg-Vorpommern plans to contribute, with fair distribution of burdens and costs.
A climate protection law is part of the red-red coalition agreement, with key goals being the state reaching climate neutrality by 2040 and a climate-neutral state administration by 2030. The drafting process is currently under departmental consultation. After a draft is submitted, it must pass through the state parliament.
The state government, in response to a Green party inquiry, indicated a time frame: the draft law would be presented to the cabinet for the first time in summer 2024.

With 61 members, 43 being groups and 18 being individual members, they claim to advocate for climate protection in their state.
