On Kobald's comeback: KSC loses test match against Ulm
The struggling second division soccer team Karlsruher SC also fell short of expectations in a test match. The team from Baden lost 2-0 (0-0) against third division newcomers SSV Ulm 1846 on Thursday after conceding two goals in the second half. In the rain, Nicolas Jann scored from the penalty spot (55th minute) and Romario Rösch headed home (67th minute) for the fifth-placed team in the third division. Karlsruhe missed out on a goal in a better first half.
Central defender Christoph Kobald made his comeback for KSC and played for around an hour. The Austrian has yet to play a competitive match this season due to a muscle injury. Coach Christian Eichner's Karlsruhe have been disappointing in the second division so far, finishing 15th in the table. After the international break, the team will face 1. FC Nürnberg on November 25.
Despite Karlsruhe SC's defeat in the test match, they had a promising first half with opportunities for a goal. In their preparations for the Bundesliga 2 season, Karlsruhe SC included veteran defender Christoph Kobald in their lineup, who made his comeback after recovering from a muscle injury, playing for about an hour.
