- Olympic champion Ogunleye in Berlin also participated
Olympic champion Yemisi Ogunleye has been specially invited by the organizers of the Berlin athletics highlight ISTAF to participate in a shot put competition. Meeting director Martin Seeber expressed his delight at her participation on September 1st at the Olympic Stadium, saying, "We want to put on a fantastic athletics party for everyone."
Joining Ogunleye in the shot put will be Paris Olympic silver medalist in the long jump, Malaika Mihambo, and the bronze medalists in the 4x100m relay: Gina Lückenkemper, Lisa Mayer, Alexandra Burghardt, and Rebekka Haase. Also competing will be decathlon silver medalist Leo Neugebauer and his compatriot Niklas Kaul in a newly added triple event consisting of 100m, discus, and 1500m.
Yemisi Ogunleye's participation in the shot put competition during the Berlin athletics highlight ISTAF is particularly exciting, given her status as an Olympic Games champion. Malaika Mihambo, who earned a silver medal in the long jump at the Paris Olympic Games, will also be participating in the same shot put competition.
