- Olmo's exchange is perfect. 500 million exit clause.

Hansi Flick gets his wish player. The transfer of football European champion and Germany's nightmare Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig to FC Barcelona is finally complete after weeks of courting and negotiating. Both his former and new employer confirmed this in quick succession. Olmo has signed a contract until June 2030 with a release clause of 500 million euros, as Barcelona announced.

RB loses their magician

"Dani Olmo leaves RB Leipzig after four and a half years and joins FC Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga. 'El Mago' will now enchant for the five-time Champions League winner and 27-time Spanish champions," RB Leipzig wrote on the platform X.

Olmo himself was the first to speak up in the well-orchestrated announcement and bid farewell to the Leipzigers via Instagram: "Thank you for being part of the @rbleipzig journey. I will always carry you in my heart."

"A young club, a young player... we grew together, we won the first titles and we wrote history together," Olmo continued: "Two cups and the Super Cup are just a few moments of many that I will always carry with me." Since the Euros, where Olmo was one of the most notable players of the winning Spanish team and scored the winning goal in the quarter-final against Germany, his departure had been looming.

Breakthrough in negotiations at the beginning of the week

According to media reports, the transfer fee is said to be 55 million euros. A further seven million euros are said to be due in additional payments for the Catalans. Olmo's contract with the Bundesliga club, where he has been playing since January 2020, would have been valid until June 2027.

An agreement on a transfer until the end of a mid-July deadline with a fixed transfer fee of 60 million euros could not be reached between the responsible persons of FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig. On Monday, Olmo arrived in Leipzig with his agent, as did Barcelona's sporting director Deco. On Wednesday, they landed in Barcelona, and the same day, the often-injured professional reportedly passed the medical check in Leipzig. On Friday, he arrived at the club's premises to sign the contract.

Olmo is considered a wish player by both Flick, who has been training FC Barcelona since this summer as the successor to Xavi, and Deco. In Barcelona, Olmo will play alongside his European champion colleague Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Pedri.

Dani Olmo's departure from RB Leipzig to FC Barcelona was officially confirmed on Friday, as the Magician signed a long-term contract until June 2030 with a massive release clause of 500 million euros.

With Dani Olmo now joining European champions Barcelona, Hansi Flick will have a formidable addition to his squad, featuring players like Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Pedri.
