Ole Werner against Leverkusen - Zetterer in goal
Michael Zetterer is still in goal for Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. Despite the recovery of long-time regular keeper Jiri Pavlenka, coach Ole Werner, who is recovering from a flu-like infection, named the 28-year-old Zetterer in the starting eleven for Saturday's match against Bayer Leverkusen. Werner is relying on the same formation as in the last four games. Zetterer had also deputized for Pavlenka there.
The Czech had had to take a break due to problems with his adductor muscles and played for the first time in last week's friendly against second division side Hansa Rostock. The 31-year-old international has been at Bremen since July 2017 and has played 221 competitive matches for Werder since then. Zetterer has been at the club since 2015. He has also been loaned out to other clubs during this time.
Werner's Bayer colleague Xabi Alonso leaves international Jonathan Tah on the bench. Robert Andrich moves into central defense in his place. Andrich made his debut for the national team in the 2-0 defeat to Austria in Vienna on Tuesday.
In the upcoming Bundesliga clash between Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen, Michael Zetterer will continue to protect Werder's net, as Ole Werner, recuperating from illness, sticks with his preferred formation. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso leaves Jonathan Tah out of the lineup, with Robert Andrich stepping into central defense.
