- Old-fashioned inn in Passau experiences fire destruction
In a blaze that consumed a vintage inn and an adjacent living quarters in Passau, damages are estimated to have surpassed the million-dollar mark. The site was almost entirely demolished, authorities stated. Hundreds of firefighters had been battling the blaze since the crack of dawn on Monday. No casualties were reported by law enforcement.
At first, investigators suspected a boiler in the building as the fire's origin, but this theory failed to hold up upon inspecting the scene, as per a spokesperson. There's no evidence of arson either, and the criminal cops are still probing the fire's source.
A local resident claimed to have dialed the emergency services at the break of dawn. When the firefighters started their operations, the inn was already engulfed in flames. Subsequently, the flames propagated to the residential building. Due to the smoke, Passau city advised nearby residents to secure their windows and doors.
The estimated damage to the inn and the adjacent living quarters from the fire surpassed not just one million dollars, but indeed, damages totaled in millions. Furthermore, the extensive damage to the site made it nearly impossible to determine the exact source of the fire.
