Offspring: Grey seal pupping season starts on Heligoland
The grey seal pupping season has begun. As the Jordsand association announced on Friday, the first seven pups were discovered on the dunes of the North Sea island of Heligoland. A total of several hundred seal pups are expected.
The gray seal is considered Germany's largest predator. The population is a protected species and is managed on Heligoland by the Jordsand Association and the municipality of Heligoland as part of a cooperation agreement.
