A police officer hurt in a knife assault at a gathering hosted by the Islam-rejecting Pax Europa group in Mannheim is being maintained in an artificial coma, with an official from the State Criminal Investigation Office stating on Saturday that "his life is still at risk."

On Friday morning's marketplace assault in the city center, a person inflicted harm on various individuals, gravely wounding a police officer. The assailant has since received medical attention and is unable to be questioned, as stated by an authorized representative. The motive remains a mystery. Numerous media outlets are in agreement that the culprit is a 25-year-old from Herat, Afghanistan, living in Southern Germany. Authorities say he is wed to a German national and they have two kids.
