Crime - Office for the Protection of the Constitution warns of infiltrated terror fighters
Thuringia's President of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, Stephan Kramer, has warned against infiltrating terror fighters. "Islamists have always used escape routes and refugee movements to smuggle potential fighters into Europe," Kramer told the Handelsblatt newspaper (Monday edition). It is therefore important to check as many arrivals as possible immediately and establish identities, not just when social benefits are applied for.
With radicalized sympathizers of the Hamas terrorists already living here, we are dealing with a "considerable potential danger", Kramer continued. Individual perpetrators who could "strike at any time without orders or structures" were particularly dangerous. Hamas' brutal actions against Israel had "become a motivational trigger" for many Islamists in Germany and Europe. However, not only Jews worldwide are affected, but also supporters of Israel.
Kramer named Christmas markets as possible targets for attacks, as well as major sporting events such as the European Football Championship in Germany and the Summer Olympics in Paris next year.
