Crime - Offender who escaped from hospital surrenders to police
A criminal who escaped from a psychiatric clinic in Viersen on the Lower Rhine is back behind bars. The 37-year-old turned himself in to a police station in Rhineland-Palatinate on Sunday night, according to the Viersen district police.
The man had not returned to his ward on December 11 after an unaccompanied exit within the hospital grounds. According to the police, he has been in the clinic for several years and is undergoing therapy. After initial search measures were unsuccessful, investigators published a wanted picture of him on Friday.
