Crime - Offender who escaped from hospital still on the run
The police are still looking for a convicted criminal who escaped from a psychiatric clinic in Viersen in the Lower Rhine region several days ago. The 37-year-old has been publicly searched for with a photo since Friday. "His whereabouts are still unknown," said a police spokesperson on Saturday afternoon. Although several tips had been received, they had not led to the man being found.
According to the police, the 37-year-old had not returned to his ward on December 11 after an unaccompanied exit within the hospital grounds. He had been in the clinic for several years and was undergoing therapy. Since Friday, officers have been publicly searching for the man with a wanted picture, as previous search measures have been unsuccessful.
