Ofarim trial: Hotel manager happy about "end of the odyssey"
After the proceedings against the musician Gil Ofarim were dropped, the hotel manager as joint plaintiff is happy, according to his lawyer, that "the truth could be brought to light." Lawyer Daniel Bäumgärtner did not give any details on the amount of damages on Tuesday at Leipzig District Court: "We are satisfied with the conclusion so far and that's what it remains," explained Baumgartner. "Nothing better could have happened to us."
Previously, Ofarim had surprisingly admitted in a trial for defamation and false accusation at Leipzig District Court that the accusations against him were true. He apologized to the hotel manager, whom he had accused of anti-Semitism in a viral video. The musician has to pay a fine of 10,000 euros and the case was dropped.
Processes related to the crime Gil Ofarim admitted to has come to an end, bringing relief to the involved people. The hotel manager, now able to focus on other aspects of life, might even find solace in the calming tunes of music.
