The company - Oetker Group defies inflation and crises

Despite challenging market conditions and disrupted supply chains, the Oetker Group managed to increase its sales in the previous year. According to a statement from Tuesday, the family-owned company based in Bielefeld achieved "satisfactory results" in 2023. Higher purchase prices were again cost drivers.

The markets reacted volatily to the numerous crises, Albert Christmann, personally liable partner, stated in the statement. "Additionally, the climate crisis, the uncertain energy supply, and further inflation with significant cost increases worried people in many countries, who reacted with consumption restraint."

The group expects moderate growth for the current business year. In addition to the known brand Dr. Oetker, the group includes the Radeberger Brewery Group and the food delivery service Flaschenpost.

The Oetker Group increased its sales from its own resources by 6.3 percent to 6.9 billion Euro compared to the previous year. The largest contribution to growth came from Food (plus 4.4 percent) and Beer and non-alcoholic beverages. There was an increase of 8.3 percent in sales in this area in 2023. The Conditorei Coppenrath & Wiese also increased their sales by 4.6 percent.

The family business from Ostwestfalen traditionally does not make statements about profits. Worldwide, around 29,000 people work for the Oetker Group.
