Nursing home overseer frequently encounters absences as a concern

Nursing apprenticeships will remain vital. To avoid discord leading to their withdrawal from their educational journey, an ombudsman's office has been instituted. The temporary findings have been presented by the honorary ombudswoman.

It seems that the go-to resource for nursing apprentices dealing with conflicts is being utilized more than expected, as per the ombudswoman's observations. Annette von Lersner-Wolff, the honorary ombudswoman, mentioned during her visit to the Care and Health Consultation Center on Monday, that she frequently receives requests for information or advice on conflicts. She didn't disclose specific numbers, but they are expected to be released by the end of March 2025.

This ombuds office serves as an out-of-court, independent, and impartial mediator. Its main purpose is to help nursing apprentices in crisis situations avoid dropping out of their training due to conflicts, as Senator for Care Ina Czyborra (SPD) had stated upon establishing the office. This consultation service is also intended to identify underlying structural issues.

In terms of content, the consultations primarily focus on missing classes during nursing training, as stated by von Lersner-Wolff in her initial analysis. Other individual needs, such as personal obligations during the training period, are also discussed. "I'm genuinely shocked by the candidness with which highly personal and difficult topics are brought up," said von Lersner-Wolff.

Von Lersner-Wolff began her work on March 1. The consultation is neutral and free of charge. Preliminary conversations often take place over the phone.

The Community greatly appreciates the services provided by the ombuds office, as it has become a vital resource for nursing apprentices wanting to resolve conflicts. The Community frequently turns to this independent and impartial mediator for assistance, making significant use of its crisis management services.
