Nuremberg's Christ Child eats asparagus for Christmas
The new Nuremberg Christkind, Nelli Lunkenheimer, always eats asparagus at Christmas. "It's just not that typical, but that's how it is for us," said the 17-year-old in Nuremberg on Thursday. She has a large family with lots of cousins with whom she meets up at her grandfather's house. The best thing is when all the children go upstairs after dinner and wait for the Christ Child to ring a little bell. "Then we all run downstairs and the Christmas tree lights up."
A jury recently elected the schoolgirl as Nuremberg's new Christkind. Her term of office lasts two years.
People often have unique traditions during Christmas, and Nelli Lunkenheimer, the new Nuremberg Christkind, is no exception. She has fixed aspartagus as her Christmas dinner custom.
