The national team is in the spotlight for their performance. - Nübel opts out - Matthäus expresses confusion.

Veteran footballer Lothar Matthäus was left shocked by rumors that Germany's head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, will leave out Alexander Nübel as the fourth goalkeeper for the upcoming European Championship. During a press conference in Mönchengladbach before the match against Greece, Matthäus expressed his disappointment, mentioning Nübel's exceptional season with the team VfB Stuttgart.

Recent news reports suggest that Nagelsmann is considering dropping Nübel from the final squad, which the German Football Association should announce by 11:59 pm on Friday. Consequently, Germany's squad will only have three goalkeepers instead of four: Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern), Marc-André ter Stegen (FC Barcelona), and Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim).

Matthäus could not fathom this decision, considering previous comments made by the coach. "I can't understand that either based on his statements so far," he stated. "You need him in the future. I would have taken him with me myself. You don't need 25 field players to become European champions." The tournament squad allows for a total of 26 players.

More details about the European Championship, the FIFA World Rankings, and the group stage match schedules, country match dates, and information about the squad can be found on various websites like Bild, UEFA, and Sky Sports.
